Gaby and David’s Colombia Destination Wedding

Foil Stamped and Letterpress Folio Bird of Paradise Wedding Suite

Gaby and David’s Colombia Destination Wedding

Hi there! Meryl at Jubilee Paper here with a guest blog post featuring a truly epic invitation suite that Rise and Shine printed for me. Jubilee Paper is a custom wedding invitation design shop, and I love to think outside the box and get creative with invitation execution. Whenever I have a couple who isn’t afraid of my wild ideas, magic always ensues! It was such a treat to design this invitation suite for Gaby and David, the sweetest couple who trusted me completely. Gaby and David were planning a destination wedding weekend in Cartagena, Colombia and wanted invitations and other paper goods that were modern, colorful, and bilingual. In the words of the bride, “the vibe is happy New York, if New York were happy.” I designed over 20 pieces for their wedding, and I couldn’t have pulled off my vision were it not for Rise and Shine!

The invitation suite was a square folio with two color foil printing on the front, featuring a bird of paradise flower. Inside the folio, the black invitation card was mounted on a light blue paper and printed with black foil. I love the black on black effect this created! On the other side of the folio were three letterpressed cards dangling from a string. Ryan and his team worked so hard to print and assemble these, and the execution was absolutely flawless. To complete the invitation suite, I tucked the folios in vellum envelopes with a message written in calligraphy, and then enclosed those in black outer envelopes with black velvet liner. The envelopes were adorned with vintage stamps, and then off they went!

But designing and printing the invitations was only the beginning. Rise and Shine helped me produce paper goods for the entire weekend, beginning with this welcome guide that was included in guests’ welcome bags at the first event. Rise and Shine printed these digitally, including the full bleed color backgrounds, and I tied the cards together with mini black tassels.

Next up on this very fun tropical wedding weekend was a beach day complete with a beautiful plated lunch. I designed menus that mimicked the details cards in the invitation suite and completed them with place cards done in calligraphy and ombre blue tassels. Once again Ryan came through with flawless digital printing for this piece!

For the ceremony programs, I designed a multi-page circular program that would pair with Colombian made fans. We printed these on cream paper with gold foil, and I love how classic and beautiful they looked on the mostly black and white ceremony backdrop.

The reception was all about acrylic! I was thrilled when Ryan said that Rise and Shine could screenprint white on acrylic for me. We did both the menus and the seating charts in acrylic, and the menus were finished with place cards done in calligraphy and (of course) colorful ombre tassels. These pieces were so stunning and really contributed an air of modern elegance to the reception.

Thank you so much to Ryan and the whole team at Rise and Shine for bringing my visions for this wedding to life! I couldn’t have done it without you.
